A groundbreaking initiative for organic chicken research has been inaugurated at Rajshahi University’s Narkelbaria campus. This marks the first endeavor of its kind in the country, spearheaded by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (DVAS).

The new research cell is dedicated to studying live chickens, aiming to advance the field of animal research and contribute to the production of safe poultry. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Humayun Kabir, among other distinguished faculty members and officials.

In his address, Prof Sattar emphasized the laboratory’s role in fostering skilled human resources and enhancing best practices in poultry farming. He highlighted the importance of training for all stakeholders, from farmers to sellers, to promote awareness and ensure public health safety.

The initiative also focuses on sustainable poultry practices and reducing the use of harmful antibiotics in feed, which is crucial for public health. Prof Jalal Sarder assured attendees of the cell’s commitment to producing safe and hygienic chicken.

This innovative research cell is expected to set a precedent for similar establishments across the nation, contributing significantly to the poultry sector’s safety and hygiene standards.
