The Department of Secondary and Higher Education has recently announced new class routines for sixth to tenth grade students. The National Board of Education and Textbook Board-NCTB has formulated separate routines for one shift and two shift schools, effective from 2024.
According to the new routine, one-shift schools will have six-period classes for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ninth grade class will have ⁇ Period, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first to third class period will be ⁇ 0 minutes, the fourth to sixth grade period will be 50 minutes, and the seventh grade will be 45 minutes.
Two-shift schools will have six period classes from sixth to ninth grade. The morning shift will start at 7:30 am and run till 12:00 am, while the afternoon shift will start at 12:30 pm and end at 5:00 pm. The first period for roll call will be 45 minutes, and the remaining periods will be 40 minutes. The seventh period will be 30 minutes.
The routines for the sixth to ninth grades are mandatory, but the periods of the same day can be changed for special needs. Each organization can formulate a complete routine by fixing their own convenience for the tenth grade.
An additional class will have to be taken in the seventh period for the ninth and tenth classes, where group work, presentation, practice, or hand-in-hand work on the subject mentioned in the routine should be completed.
Every educational institution must arrange for students to sing the national anthem at daily gatherings. Moreover, National Days (February 21, March 1, March 2, March 2, Pahela Baishakh, August 15, 17 December) have been included as learning activities, and various activities related to the day will be conducted without following the routine of the session.
Only trained teachers will take sixth to ninth grade classes, and a teacher cannot be assigned multiple subjects in the same class. In the farewell year, first, sixth, and seventh grade students are taught in new courses, while new curriculum will start in second, third, eighth, and ninth grades in the new year.
The new class routines aim to provide a more structured and efficient learning environment for students, with a focus on practical and interactive learning. With the inclusion of National Days and new curriculum, students will have a well-rounded education that prepares them for their future.
