JU, July 15 (V7N) – The Provost of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore Hall at Jahangirnagar University has resigned from his position following an alleged attack on quota protestors by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists early Tuesday morning.

According to student demonstrators advocating for quota system reforms, BCL leaders and activists reportedly barred four dormitory residents from joining an anti-quota protest that began at 11:30 pm. Among the injured were Ahsan Labib, Sohagi Samia, Tauhid Siam, and Mehrab Sifat. A security personnel was also reported injured during the incident.

Ahsan Labib has been admitted to the University Medical Center, while Sohagi Samia has been taken to Enam Medical College Hospital for initial treatment.

Following the attack, Vice Chancellor (Education) Mustafa Firoz and several faculty members visited the site. The Vice-Chancellor assured that appropriate actions would be taken after an investigation and pledged to meet with the protesting students at 11 am.
