Khulna, Aug 01 (V7N) - A human chain was organized at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) to protest against the killing and torture of innocent individuals, including students, and to demand justice. Simultaneously, Khulna University teachers conducted a silent march.
On Thursday, August 1, at 11 a.m., KUET teachers formed a human chain at the university's Independence Pillar, "Durbar Bangla," under the banner of ordinary teachers. The event was chaired by Md. Helal An-Nahian, with notable speakers including Professor Helal An-Nahian of the Civil Engineering Department, Professor Shahajan Ali, Professor Sheikh Shariful Alam from the Electronics Communication and Communication Techniques Department, Associate Professor Mir Abdul Quddus from the Civil Engineering Department, and Professor Razia from the Humanities Department.
In their speeches, the teachers expressed their outrage over the violence against students, stating, "Our students are being abducted and tortured. We stand here on behalf of the ordinary teachers of KUET, all of whom are deeply pained. Many of us are also parents of students. We strongly condemn the killings of our innocent students, as reported in various media. We demand justice and exemplary punishment. The manner in which our students are being detained at police stations is unacceptable in any welfare state."
At the conclusion of the human chain, the teachers held a silent procession around the central Shaheed Minar of the university before concluding the event at the Durbar Bangla.
