Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) has implemented a ban on all forms of political activities on its campus, affecting both students and faculty members.

The university administration announced that any violations of this ban would result in disciplinary action as per the institution's regulations. The decision was outlined in two separate office orders issued on Saturday by Acting Registrar Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, following the 105th emergency syndicate meeting.

According to the orders, the ban is enforced under sections 44(4) and 44(5) of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology Act 2003, prohibiting any university staff or faculty member from engaging in political activities. Students are also strictly barred from participating in or associating with any political organizations.

The decision to ban political activities comes in response to demands from Ruet students, who submitted a letter to the vice-chancellor earlier that day, calling for the prohibition along with 12 other demands.

Attempts to reach Vice-Chancellor Professor Jahangir Alam and other university officials for comments were unsuccessful.
