New Delhi, Nov 19 (V7N) — Bollywood icons Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn attended the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024, where they openly discussed the differences between Bollywood and India's southern film industries. The event, hosted by Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor for Entertainment and Lifestyle at Hindustan Times, revealed insights into the challenges Bollywood faces in fostering unity.
During the conversation, both superstars highlighted the stark contrast between Bollywood and the four southern film industries—Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Akshay Kumar admitted, "We don't have much unity [in Bollywood]. I agree with that. I don't know what Ajay is thinking."
Ajay Devgn echoed Akshay's sentiments, stating, "I think so too, and I have been discussing this for a long time. I truly admire the southern industries because the artists there look out for each other and care. That unity is one of the reasons for their incredible success."
The south Indian film industries have witnessed massive growth and box office success in recent years, producing blockbusters that have not only dominated Indian screens but also gained global recognition. Ajay added, "To be honest, I want the Mumbai film industry to be as integrated as the south."
The discussion shed light on the importance of collaboration and mutual support among Bollywood's stakeholders, suggesting that greater unity could help Bollywood achieve similar widespread success.
The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit continues to provide a platform for candid discussions, inspiring ideas, and solutions for pressing challenges in entertainment and beyond.
