Dhaka, Mar 13 (V7N) – The child who had been on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka has tragically passed away. The news was confirmed by the Bangladesh Army's verified Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.
The post expressed deep sorrow, stating that the child, who had been tortured in Magura, died at 1 PM on March 13, 2025. Despite the use of advanced medical systems and the best efforts of expert doctors at the CMH, the child's condition could not be saved. Cardiac arrest occurred three times in the morning, with the heartbeat briefly returning twice before the third cardiac arrest took his life. The child was declared dead at 1 PM.
Colonel Nazmul Hamid, a professor in the Pediatric Neurology Department at CMH, explained that the child experienced two cardiac arrests in the morning, with CPR administered successfully both times. However, a third cardiac arrest around 12 noon could not be reversed, and the child passed away shortly thereafter.
In the wake of the child's death, public outrage has been widespread. Protests have erupted, with people from all sectors of society, including actors, directors, and citizens, calling for justice. Netizens have been vocal in their reactions, with many demanding swift action against the perpetrators.
Dhallywood actress Tama Mirza shared the tragic news on Facebook, expressing her anger and frustration. She wrote, "Listen, animals are kept or killed. Garbage has to be cleaned. It is not allowed to leave it and spread bad smell. If there are no ten to twenty animal-like inhumans, our country's population will not decrease. Why would the rapist survive? Either kill them immediately, or if not, give them to the general public, but do not keep them alive."
Many of her followers expressed their agreement in the comments, with one person writing, "My sister is in the grave, why is the rapist outside?" Another commented, "There's nothing to say." The incident has sparked widespread calls for justice and for harsher punishment for those who commit such heinous acts.
