Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) – Sarjis Alam, general secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, on Saturday said that if exhumation of bodies was not required for the trial of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s assassination, then why should the bodies of the martyrs from July-August be exhumed.
He declared that no more martyrs' bodies would be allowed to be exhumed.
He made these remarks during a program at the Rajshahi Shilpakala Academy auditorium, where financial assistance checks were distributed among families of martyrs on behalf of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.
Sarjis Alam emphasized that those who obstruct the judicial process of the murder cases of martyrs will also be considered murderers.
On the matter of relations with India, he said that the nature of Bangladesh’s relationship with India would be determined by India’s actions.
He added that if India wants to maintain good relations, it must return the "killer Hasina" instead of sheltering her.
Sarjis further said that instead of punishing the police officers responsible for shootings, efforts are underway to transfer them to new postings.
He accused leaders of various political parties and senior officials of the administration of being involved in corruption related to case settlements.
Issuing a stern warning, Sarjis Alam said that no one would be spared if they betrayed the faith of the mass uprising.
At the event, financial assistance checks were distributed to the families of 39 martyrs by the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.
