Ramphal, Sept 3 (V7N) – The 1320 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant located in Gouramba Union of Rampal Upazila has achieved a new milestone in electricity production.
Anwarul Azim, Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Ltd., stated that the Rampal Thermal Power Plant generated 771.70 million units of electricity this month, reaching a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 78.58%. This accounts for 7.15% of the country’s total electricity production of 10,100 million units. For the past three consecutive months, the plant has consistently produced over 600 million units each month, with a cumulative output of 2,036.4 million units.
Although the plant relies on imported coal, it employs ultra-supercritical technology along with advanced environmental protection systems including flue gas desulfurization, advanced electrostatic precipitators, a 275-meter-high chimney, closed-cycle cooling, and a zero liquid discharge system. These features ensure clean, efficient, and reliable power generation.
The Maitree Power Plant plays a vital role in supporting industrial growth, boosting investor confidence, and strengthening national energy security through stable and cost-effective electricity supply. It stands as a foundational pillar for Bangladesh’s economic growth and sustainable development.
