Yoweri Museveni, the president of Uganda, took office as the movement's new chair and opened the NAM summit

Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Uganda's foreign minister, attended the NAM Summit on Friday (local time) in Kampala.

According to a press release from the foreign ministry, he will speak on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Third South Summit of the G77 and the NAM Summit.

It further stated that the foreign minister is leading a delegation from Bangladesh to the Third South Summit of the G77 and China, which is slated for January 21–22, as well as the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which is taking place on January 19–20.

In addition, he is anticipated to meet with many of his counterparts on a bilateral basis.

The foreign minister is also scheduled to have courtesy call on with the UN Secretary-General and Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

The President of Azerbaijan, the departing Chair of the NAM, the President of the General Assembly, Vice President Cuba in her capacity as Chair of the Group of 77, China, and representatives of various regional organizations also spoke at the summit's opening ceremony.

The president of Uganda gave a state banquet that the foreign minister of Bangladesh also attended.Hasan is accompanied by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, who led the delegation from Bangladesh to the NAM's ministerial meeting and senior official meetings, Muhammad Abdul Muhith, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the UN, Tareque Muhammad, Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Kenya, and others.
