Before 12th parliamentary election, Bangladesh opposition party BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were detained for about three and a half months before being released on bail.

After the bail order was received by the jail officials, they left Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj at about 3:35 p.m., according to Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell.

He stated that the two were met at the jail entrance by BNP leaders, activists, and the families of the party's two senior leaders.

After being released from custody, they will immediately head to their own homes with their families, according to Sayrul.

Fakhrul and Khasru were both granted bail earlier on Thursday by a Dhaka court about a charge brought about the destruction of the chief justice's mansion on October 28, 2023, during a BNP demonstration.

After examining their applications, the acting judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court, Faisal Atiq Bin Quader, granted the bail.

Police accused 59 BNP leaders and activists, including Fakhrul and Khasru, in a complaint that was filed on October 29.

Regarding the violence at the event, a total of 11 charges against Fakhrul and 10 against Khasru were filed. On October 29 and November 3, respectively, Fakhrul and Khasru were taken into custody from their homes in Gulshan.
