Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) — Zainul Abdin Farooq, Adviser to BNP Chairperson, has called on the interim government to immediately announce a roadmap for early elections. His statement came during a short rally organised by the Democratic Party in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday.

Farooq emphasized the urgent need for an election roadmap, claiming it reflects the demand of the people and democratic parties in Bangladesh. “The fascist Awami League is perpetuating anarchy in the country. A representative government is necessary to put an end to this and uphold the democratic rights of the people,” he said.

He further criticised the Awami League, accusing the ruling party of prioritising foreign interests over national ones. “Awami League has always acted as a broker for India. They failed to prosecute the killers of Felani, secure fair water sharing, or protect the sovereignty of Bangladesh,” Farooq alleged, referencing historical grievances.

Addressing issues of governance, Farooq highlighted the killing of lawyer Saiful Alif in Chittagong as an example of the government's weakness. He also accused Awami League supporters of attempting to consolidate power through secret movements and rallies.

The rally, presided over by Bangladesh Democratic Party President SM Shahadat Hossain, was attended by prominent leaders, including National People's Party President Fariduzzaman Farhad, Labor Party Chairman Mustafizur Rahman Iran, and BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu.

The opposition parties reiterated their commitment to opposing the ruling party's alleged misgovernance and expressed solidarity in demanding a fair and transparent electoral process.
