Dhaka, Dec 05 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed disappointment regarding the inability of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col. (retd.) Oli Ahmed to meet with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus during a political gathering. The Jamaat chief shared his sentiments on his verified Facebook page, calling the incident "regrettable."

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that it was unfortunate that a seasoned politician like Oli Ahmed, a former minister and Bir Bikram awardee, could not respectfully attend the meeting held at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday. He urged the authorities to handle such matters with greater sincerity in the future to prevent similar incidents.

Col. (retd.) Oli Ahmed reportedly arrived at the venue on Wednesday afternoon to join discussions aimed at fostering national unity. However, he was denied entry as his name was not on the list of invitees submitted at the entrance. Despite subsequent attempts by the Chief Advisor’s team to contact him and request his presence, Oli Ahmed declined, citing his inability to return.

The meeting, led by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, brought together leaders of various political parties to discuss pressing national issues.

This incident has drawn attention to the importance of inclusivity in political discourse. Leaders from various quarters have underscored the need to ensure respect and recognition for all political figures, especially those with distinguished contributions to the nation.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s remarks reflect growing concerns about fostering unity in the current political climate, as stakeholders aim to navigate a challenging period in the nation's history.
