Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the interim government not to position political parties as adversaries of the state. He made this appeal during a discussion at the Engineers Institution in Dhaka on Friday, December 13, held in observance of Martyred Intellectuals Day.

In his speech, Fakhrul warned of a concerted effort to distort the history of Bangladesh's Liberation War by sidelining the pivotal events of 1971. "A conspiracy is underway to erase the true history of our nation, and we must remain vigilant to ensure that history is not distorted, as it was in the last 15 years," he stated.

Political Vigilance and Historical Integrity
Mirza Fakhrul also voiced concerns over what he described as Sheikh Hasina's efforts to regain power by allegedly seeking refuge in India. He called on the nation to stay united and vigilant to thwart any such political machinations.

Election Reforms and People’s Government
BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, also speaking at the event, emphasized the necessity of reforms for the country's future. He warned that if the government continues to delay elections under the guise of reform, it could face serious consequences. "Reforms are a continuous process, not something that can be confined to a single day or a specific date," he remarked. Dr. Mosharraf added that the future people's government would be committed to implementing these reforms.

He further highlighted that the announcement of a clear roadmap for the elections would galvanize the public and steer the nation toward the polls.
