BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman addressing a workshop on the party's 31-point framework for state reform in Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur districts via virtual connection. The workshop was attended by thousands of party leaders and activists.
Dhaka, Dec 17, (V7N) - BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has commented that the widespread public support for the party is causing envy and leading to conspiracies against it. He added that, as part of this conspiracy, several agents have been infiltrated within the party, and members need to stay alert.
He made these remarks while addressing a workshop on the BNP's 31-point framework for restructuring the state, held on Tuesday in the Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur districts. While the workshops were held separately in the three districts, Tarique Rahman addressed the participants virtually. Prior to the workshops, he answered various questions from party leaders and activists regarding the 31-point framework. Around 3,000 party leaders and activists participated in the workshops held in the three districts. The Dhaka district workshop was held at the Kakrail Institution of Diploma Engineers, the Gazipur workshop at Sagar Saikat Community Center, and the Narayanganj workshop at the Giyasuddin Model College auditorium.
Tarique Rahman urged the party leaders and workers not to be complacent, despite their opponents' smaller rallies. He said, "The smaller processions and gatherings of our opponents are actually giving us joy. However, we must ensure that our own gatherings are not small, because BNP currently enjoys the support of the majority of the country's people. This has become the cause of envy for many political parties and individuals, and conspiracies have already begun."
With the upcoming election in mind, he gave a stern warning to party workers: "I can guarantee that the upcoming election will be much more challenging than any previous elections. If anyone thinks that the main opposition is weak and the election will be easy, they are wrong. Prepare yourselves for a much tougher battle."
The Acting Chairman also emphasized that if BNP is to succeed in its efforts to reform the state, it must do so with the support of the people. Without public support, he warned, the party's struggle will fail. He noted that to make the 31-point framework successful, the people's backing is crucial.
The workshop in Dhaka was chaired by Khondokar Abu Ashfaq, President of Dhaka District BNP, and was conducted by BNP's Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Aini. BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Advisor to the Acting Chairman Dr. Mahadi Amin, central leaders Anisur Rahman Talukdar Khokon, Dewan Salauddin Babu, and General Secretary of Dhaka District BNP Nipon Roy Chowdhury were also among the speakers.
