Dhaka, Jan 11 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasised the importance of unity and perseverance during his address as the chief guest at the first national council of 'Amar Bangladesh Party' (AB Party) held at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday morning.

“Unfortunately, some people in our country are trying to create a rift in unity,” Mirza Fakhrul said. “I know that attempt will not succeed. I believe we will definitely be able to reach our goal together and united.”

Reflecting on the progress of their movement, he stated, “After five months, many are asking what our achievements are. The achievement is that today we are standing here and speaking without hesitation and fear. I consider this a big victory for us. The AB Party has a significant role to play here.”

Mirza Fakhrul reiterated his commitment to building a new Bangladesh and protecting the country from destruction. He said, “We have been agitating for democracy for 16 years. There have been attempts to create division, but we will not let it work. We must remain patient and avoid rash decisions.”

Commenting on the nation’s current situation, he said, “The country's economic condition is fragile, and the political situation is unstable. We support the interim government but demand reforms and quick elections. I firmly believe all crises will be resolved after the elections.”

The council gathered leaders and supporters of the AB Party, along with representatives from allied political organisations, to discuss strategies for achieving democratic reforms and addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
