Dhaka, Mar 08 (V7N) – The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested four more active members of the banned militant organization Hizbut Tahrir from different areas of the capital.
The arrests were made during a late-night raid in Mohammadpur, Adabor, and Uttarkhan at around 3 AM on Friday.
The detainees have been identified as:
- Md. Helal Uddin (45)
- Asaduzzaman Noor (18)
- Tanim Sikder Sihab (18)
- Ahmed Nasif Karim alias Kabyo (18)
According to the DMP, the arrested individuals have admitted to being active members of Hizbut Tahrir during initial interrogations. Authorities also stated that the evidence seized from them further confirms their involvement with the banned extremist group.
A case is being registered against them under the Prevention of Terrorism Act-2009 (Amendment-2013), and the CTTC is continuing its efforts to track down other associates of the organization.
Earlier on Friday, law enforcement agencies arrested at least 15 members of Hizbut Tahrir during a procession near Baitul Mukarram National Mosque following Jummah prayers.
Authorities have intensified their surveillance and operations against the banned organization, which has been attempting to resurface and reorganize despite strict government measures.
