Dhaka, Mar 15 (V7N) – Eight leftist organizations, which had planned a mass march from the Central Shaheed Minar demanding justice for murder, rape, oppression, and the removal of the Home Affairs Advisor, decided to end their program with a short rally due to the "overall situation."

The rally began around 11:30 AM on Saturday, but after about half an hour, Bangladesh Chhatra Union’s central president, Mahir Shahriar Reza, announced that the march was being "postponed" and the program was ending for the day.

“A chaotic situation is being created around our program. The intelligence agency has told us to shorten this program and not hold it. We cannot be suppressed by fear of attack,” Reza stated.

He further explained, “Considering the overall situation in the country, we are postponing the mass march that was supposed to go from Shaheed Minar to TSC. We are ending our program here today.”

The organizations involved in calling for the mass march included Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Bangladesh Youth Union, Socialist Chhatra Front, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Pahari Chhatra Parishad, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, Charan Cultural Center, Central Khelaghar Asar, Socialist Women's Forum, Bangladesh Kheta Mazur Samity, and Bangladesh Trade Union Center (TUC).

The decision to postpone the march raises concerns about the freedom of assembly in the country, as activists cite growing pressure from authorities.
