Dhaka, Mar 22 (V7N) – BNP Chairperson’s Adviser, Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, has said that the Awami League, as a party, has committed no crime.

He made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at a public iftar program held at Sonaimuri Railway Station premises in Noakhali on Friday evening.

Barrister Khokon said: "BNP believes in democracy. Every individual has the right to engage in politics. Every citizen of Bangladesh can form their organization. We believe in the right of every individual to organize. The current government will determine whether Awami League will be banned or not. However, those who have committed crimes must be brought to justice. Awami League as a party has committed no crime."

Referring to elections, Mahbub Uddin Khokon said: "For the past 15 years, there has been no voting rights in this country. The government lacked accountability, which allowed many under Sheikh Hasina’s patronage to engage in looting, embezzlement, and money laundering. Lastly, I pray that Allah enables Professor Dr Yunus to arrange parliamentary elections soon.
