DHAKA, May 22 (V7N) – Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), stated on Thursday afternoon that the High Court's verdict in favor of BNP leader Ishraq Hossain, clearing the way for his oath as Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor, "reflected the people's expectations." Rizvi made these remarks during a press conference held at the party's Nayapaltan office in the capital.
During the press briefing, Rizvi also expressed the public's "disappointment and anger" regarding a statement made by National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman concerning Tarique Rahman. Rizvi asserted that Tarique Rahman is currently in London under the Refugee Act and has been unable to return to Bangladesh due to security concerns. In light of this, Rizvi demanded Dr. Khalilur Rahman's resignation and the withdrawal of his statement.
Commenting on the issue of the humanitarian corridor, Rizvi criticized the government, noting that "each person in the government is making different statements about the corridor." He suggested that the government appears to have "lost its way" and further commented that "some advisors are working for some other purpose than neutrality at this time."
