Dhaka, May 23, (V7N) – Amid growing speculation on social media regarding a possible resignation, National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam held a meeting with Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Thursday (May 22) evening.

The meeting took place at the chief advisor's official residence, Jamuna, around 7:00 PM, confirmed Sarwar Tushar, Joint Convener of the NCP.

According to party sources, the two leaders engaged in an extended discussion. During the conversation, Professor Yunus acknowledged the challenges of governance, stating that he had come to serve, but if circumstances did not permit effective governance, he would reconsider his position.

In response, Nahid Islam urged the Chief Advisor to reflect on the values and sacrifices of the July uprising, emphasizing the public’s trust, the aspirations for change, and the importance of national unity. He urged Yunus to make any decision in light of these responsibilities.

The meeting comes at a critical time as the interim government faces pressure on multiple fronts, including economic reform, law enforcement restructuring, and public expectations in the post-July uprising political landscape.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding any resignation decision by the Chief Advisor.
