BNP Executive Committee Member and Dhaka BNP General Secretary, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, has been released on bail in seven cases lodged across different police stations in Dhaka, involving allegations of vandalism, notably an assault on the chief justice’s residence.

Nipun Roy surrendered herself and sought bail before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge, Mohammad Assam Joglul Hossain, on Thursday.

The cases for which she secured bail include two lodged at Ramna model police station and five at Paltan model police station.

Additional Public Prosecutor, Tapas Kumar Pal, representing the state at the relevant court, affirmed the grant of bail.

Previously, Nipun Roy had obtained anticipatory bail from the High Court. Following the expiration of the bail period, she voluntarily surrendered to the lower court and petitioned for bail, which was subsequently granted after the hearing.

The incidents leading to these charges stem from an attack on the chief justice's residence and acts of vandalism during a BNP rally in Naya Paltan on October 28, 2023.

Subsequently, multiple cases were filed across various police stations, implicating individuals for alleged acts of sabotage.
