Former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid emerged victorious in the Sylhet-6 constituency, securing a decisive lead of 19,000 votes, according to results from 192 polling stations. Nahid garnered a total of 58,126 votes, solidifying his position as the clear winner.

The race proved to be closely contested, with independent candidate Sarwar Hossain, running under the Eagle symbol, coming in second with 39,387 votes. Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, Chairman of Trinamool BNP, finished third with 10,858 votes.

A total of 192 voting locations and 1,089 voting areas served the over 472,000 registered voters in Sylhet-6. Nearly equal numbers of men and women participated in the election, with 237,509 male and 235,239 female voters casting their ballots.

Nahid's victory marks a significant return to the political scene for the former minister, who previously held the Sylhet-6 seat from 2009 to 2018. His supporters celebrated the win, hailing his experience and commitment to serving the region. Meanwhile, Hossain and Chowdhury expressed their appreciation for the support they received and acknowledged the democratic process.
