Dhaka, Sep 08 (V7N) – Gana Adhikar Parishad (GAP) President Nurul Haque Nur may need another four to six weeks to fully recover, according to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman.

He provided the update during a briefing on Nur’s condition on Monday afternoon at DMCH. The director added that Nur’s family could take him home in the coming days if they wish.

Nurul Haque Nur sustained serious injuries on August 29 during a clash between Jatiya Party (JPA) and GAP leaders and activists in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, when law enforcement intervened with a lathicharge to disperse the two sides. Along with Nur, several others, including GAP General Secretary Muhammad Rashed Khan, were injured.

Initially, Nur was admitted to Islami Bank Hospital for urgent treatment. On doctors’ advice, he was later transferred to DMCH, where he has been receiving care since. On September 2, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus ordered Nur to be taken abroad for further treatment.

A judicial inquiry committee, led by Justice Md. Ali Reza, has also been formed to investigate the attack on Nur.
