Dhaka, Feb 06 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member and Dhaka-8 constituency candidate Mirza Abbas today said the electorate would deliver a clear message against falsehoods and unethical political practices through their votes in the upcoming February 12 election.

Speaking to journalists after Juma prayers at West Shantibag Jame Mosque, Mirza Abbas said he believes voters are politically aware and capable of judging who can best serve their locality.

“The people understand who will be useful for the area. Whether I win or lose, I will remain with the people. I am a son of this area—my parents and ancestors are buried here,” he said.

Reflecting on his long political career, Mirza Abbas said he has consistently stood beside local residents despite facing numerous challenges. He claimed that no one had ever been harmed by his actions and added that he has always tried to help those who sought his support.

He also called for a healthy political culture, urging candidates to avoid personal attacks and character assassination.

“Politics should not be based on mudslinging. Instead of criticizing others, candidates should seek votes by explaining what they have done in the past and what they plan to do in the future,” he said.

He further stressed that elections should be conducted in a festive and positive atmosphere, free from hostility and misconduct.
