Dhaka, Feb 09 (V7N)- BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has long experience in running the country and now wants to use that experience to contribute to the reconstruction of the state.
He made the remarks while addressing an election road meeting in Banani, Dhaka, on Monday (February 9).
Tarique Rahman said that people across Bangladesh have high expectations surrounding the upcoming election, particularly from BNP.
“We have also tried to frame our plans in line with the expectations of the people,” he said.
At the road meeting, he emphasized the importance of family cards and agricultural cards, saying these initiatives would help improve the living standards of common people and farmers.
Highlighting youth development, the BNP chairman said that modern training centers would be established across the country to make young people skilled through proper training.
“Through these initiatives, the youth will be able to become self-reliant by engaging in dignified work both at home and abroad, which will help eliminate unemployment,” he said.
Speaking about overseas employment, Tarique Rahman said that many people face a severe financial crisis before going abroad for work and are often forced to sell land or property, which puts families at great risk.
“To ensure that people do not have to sell their land, a BNP government will arrange bank loans quickly so that migration costs can be met easily and repaid later from overseas earnings,” he said.
Regarding religious leaders, he said that if BNP comes to power, honorariums will be arranged for mosque imams, muezzins, khatibs, and religious leaders of other faiths, enabling them to live with dignity in society.
Referring to the problems of Dhaka-17 constituency, Tarique Rahman said that traffic congestion, waterlogging, and air pollution remain major challenges.
“If we work together, these problems can be solved collectively,” he added.
Remembering former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, the BNP chairman said that although she had opportunities to leave the country during dictatorship, she chose to stay with the people.
“Khaleda Zia did not leave the country or its people. That is why Bangladesh is our final destination,” he said.
He further said that BNP is currently the only party with a comprehensive plan to rebuild the country, adding that the party has always enjoyed the support of the people.
“BNP has never abandoned the people or the country,” he said.
