DHAKA, Feb 12, (V7N) - BNP has called upon all democratic political parties to help ensure a peaceful election environment and reject all forms of violence ahead of the upcoming national polls.
The party said it is the responsibility of every political force to uphold the popular aspiration for a festive and spontaneous election atmosphere by preventing rigging and fraud while maintaining mutual coexistence and harmony.
Mahdi Amin, spokesperson of the BNP’s central election steering committee and adviser to the BNP chairman, made the remarks at a press conference held this afternoon at the party’s election office in Gulshan.
“On behalf of BNP, we call upon all democratic political parties—let’s ensure an environment of peaceful elections, not violence,” Mahdi Amin said.
He described the election as more than a contest for votes. “This election is not just about the right to vote; it is a struggle to establish the rights and freedom of every citizen. It represents the resolve to build the Bangladesh envisioned by the mothers of every martyred and forcibly disappeared child. This election is a symbol of protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty,” he added.
Mahdi Amin expressed hope that a positive, people-oriented political culture would prevail. “Through this election, founded on constructive and engaging politics—not negative politics—state ownership will be returned to the people, Insha’Allah,” he said.
He urged citizens to turn out early on polling day. “We call upon every citizen of Bangladesh to go to the polling stations as early as possible. Let the victory in this election be Bangladesh’s victory; let it be the victory of the people.”
Addressing members of state institutions, he called for neutrality and responsibility. “We respectfully urge every member of state institutions involved in election management and all pro-democracy citizens to stand by the country and its people. A free, fair and credible election alone can ensure unity and establish the people’s ownership of the state,” he said.
