Dhaka, Feb 12, (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman voiced optimism Thursday that the national election would be peaceful, fair, and acceptable to all, as he cast his ballot at Monipur High School and College in the capital.
Rahman told reporters his party would accept the results if the vote was conducted in a free and neutral manner. “If the vote is free and impartial, we will accept the outcome. Others must also accept it. That is the beauty of democracy,” he said.
He urged voters, especially youth casting ballots for the first time, to participate peacefully and without fear. Rahman added that the election should pave the way for a government representing all 180 million citizens, not any single party or family.
The Jamaat chief said he would visit polling centers nationwide to monitor the situation, stressing that minor issues would be overlooked but major irregularities would be challenged. He also called for collective nation-building, highlighting the role of the media as a “fourth pillar of society.”
Rahman’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of the polls, with observers emphasizing the importance of transparency and public trust in the process.
