Dhaka, Feb 12, (V7N) – Jamaat-backed alliance candidate and National Citizen Party (NCP) chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary expressed satisfaction with the voting atmosphere in Dhaka-8 on Thursday, though he alleged his supporters were attacked the previous night.

Speaking after visiting Arambagh High School and College polling centre, Patwary said the situation remained peaceful since morning. He claimed his victory would represent that of Osman Hadi, adding that voters had assured him of support. He also accused Jatiya Party candidates of blurring distinctions between the “Plough” and “Boat” symbols, warning of renewed Indian influence if they gained advantage.

Tensions flared briefly when Patwary entered the Arambagh centre, prompting protests from BNP activists. The army intervened to restore order. Major Araf, overseeing security in the area, confirmed no major incidents had occurred, noting patrols were deployed immediately whenever tensions arose.
