Brahmanbaria, Feb 13 (V7N) — Independent candidate Rumin Farhana has secured a decisive victory in the Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail, Ashuganj, and part of Bijoynagar) constituency in the 13th National Parliament election. Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, Farhana expressed gratitude toward the voters, saying,

"The love of the people is a big debt in this victory. The debt to them has increased a lot, I have to repay the debt."

She emphasized her commitment to work diligently, adding, "If I don't work, it is harmful to myself. I have to work to survive, I have no other option."

Regarding the possibility of joining the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the future, Farhana commented, "First, BNP should invite me, then we will see about it." She also extended her best wishes to all political parties and individuals who achieved positive results, stating, "Everyone will fulfill their responsibilities and duties according to their oath from their position."

Reflecting on the role of supporters in her campaign, Farhana said, "The word pride is very expensive. It is not pride without people who are very close to you… Since August 5, I used to stay in the area at least 4-5 days every week. This preparation was long ago, it is the preparation of my leaders and activists. This victory is not mine, this victory belongs to my voters."

Farhana received a total of 117,495 votes, defeating her closest rival Maulana Junaid Al Habib of the 11-party alliance, who received 79,927 votes. The voter turnout in Brahmanbaria-2 was 44.8 percent out of a total 499,448 registered voters.
