Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) — The Election Commission of Bangladesh has announced that by-elections in Sherpur-3 and Bogra-6 constituencies will be held before April 14.

In the February 12 parliamentary election, BNP won 209 of 297 seats, achieving a majority. Including three additional seats from alliance partners, the BNP alliance currently holds 212 seats.

The 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami secured 77 seats, becoming the main opposition. Independent candidates won 7 seats, while the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh won one seat.
The upcoming by-elections in Sherpur-3 and Bogra-6 are expected to complete the parliamentary representation for these areas before the national deadline of April 14.
