During an iftar mahfil organized by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) at the Jatiya Press Club, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir denounced what he referred to as a destructive "monster" wreaking havoc across Bangladesh.

Fakhrul expressed concerns over the current state of the nation, lamenting the widespread destruction of institutions under what he described as a fascist regime. He highlighted the suppression of media outlets critical of the government, with journalists facing imprisonment and persecution under laws such as the Digital Security Act (DSA).

According to Fakhrul, the actions of the government have undermined Bangladesh's sovereignty and independence, placing an aggressive and fascist regime at the helm.

Despite a crackdown on BNP's October 28 rally, Fakhrul asserted that the movement against autocracy has gained momentum and remains resilient.

Additionally, Fakhrul condemned Israeli aggression against Palestinians, particularly highlighting the dire situation in Gaza where bombings and food shortages have left the population vulnerable to hunger and famine. He expressed disappointment with the lack of robust support from the Muslim world for the Palestinian cause.

Fakhrul's remarks underscored the BNP's ongoing commitment to challenging authoritarian rule and advocating for the rights of oppressed communities both domestically and internationally.
