Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen claimed on Friday, December 29, that the BNP is preparing to incite conflict in the country ahead of the next national parliamentary elections on January 7.

On the other side, he asserted that the Awami League is going door to door to voters in order to ensure a free, fair, and acceptable election because it believes in democracy.

Momen made the statements while speaking to reporters in Sylhet city on Friday morning during his election campaign.

"The BNP's refusal to cooperate is disappointing. They expected to receive no votes in the election. The BNP is heading in the wrong direction. "May Allah guide them (the BNP)," he prayed. In an apparent reference to foreign pressure on the government to focus on the elections, Momen stated that Bangladesh is the world's 33rd largest economy and is now self-sufficient.

"We have good relations with every country." "Because Bangladesh is not Afghanistan, threats from one or two countries will be ineffective," he warned.

Among those present during the campaign were Awami League General Secretary Prof Zakir Hossain, Joint General Secretary Azadur Rahman Azad, Organising Secretary Saleh Ahmed Selim, Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary Tapan Mitra, party fellows Advocate Afsar Ahmed and Ward Councillor Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury Masum, and Ward Councillor Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury Masum.
