Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N) — The Jatiyatbadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has released a somber list of 49 of its members who lost their lives during the recent student-led protests against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's administration.

At a press conference held on Wednesday at the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib presented the list, highlighting the tragic toll of the unrest. Rakib announced that over a thousand students have been killed in the ongoing movement, describing the sacrifices as a significant chapter in the country's struggle for reform.

“We mourn the loss of 49 dedicated leaders and activists from the JCD, who have become martyrs in this historic uprising,” Rakib stated. “Their bravery and commitment to the cause will be remembered as a testament to their fight against autocratic rule.”

Rakib extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for their souls, emphasizing the unparalleled nature of their sacrifice during the protests that took place in July and August.

The JCD President praised the organization's role in supporting the quota reform movement and acknowledged the contributions of their members in escalating the protests against perceived discrimination.
