Ukhiya, August 30 (V7N) - Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, emphasized that the interim government is committed to establishing effective governance. He condemned the efforts by fascist groups to disrupt the peaceful environment and urged the public to stay vigilant and united to counter any potential disturbances caused by student movements. Shahjahan also highlighted the need for necessary reforms to ensure smooth elections.
 
Speaking as the chief guest at a workers' rally on August 30 (Friday) at 3:00 PM at the Ukhiya Multi-purpose Government High School grounds, chaired by Maulana Abul Fazal, Amir of Ukhiya Upazila Jamaat, Shahjahan made these statements.
 
He underscored the need for strengthened unity amid ongoing conspiracies and called for accountability in cases of genocide, recovery of embezzled funds, and the reinforcement of the rule of law and human rights. Shahjahan advocated for the creation of a discrimination-free and harmonious communal environment to ensure the country's stability and development. He also demanded severe punishment for those responsible for atrocities and the removal of corrupt officials linked to the previous government's malpractices, advocating for their replacement with honest, competent professionals.
 
Shahjahan assured that Jamaat-e-Islami bears no ill will towards anyone and has 'forgiven all,' but he emphasized that individuals guilty of specific crimes must be held accountable to effect meaningful change and prevent further lawlessness.
 
The event featured special guests including Nur Muhammad Anwari, Amir of Cox’s Bazar District Jamaat-e-Islami, and Advocate Shahjalal Chowdhury, former Chairman of Ukhiya Upazila Parishad. Speeches were also delivered by Jahidul Islam, Assistant Secretary of District Jamaat-e-Islami, Al Amin Mohammad Sirajul Islam, District Jamaat’s Publicity Secretary, Maulana Nurul Haque, Naib Amir of Upazila Jamaat, and Maulana Sultan Ahmed, Secretary of Ukhiya Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, among other senior Jamaat leaders.
 
Before the rally, workers from various parts of Ukhiya participated in a procession. This event marked the first Jamaat-e-Islami rally in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar in 16 years."
