Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called on the interim government to act responsibly by prioritizing the national interest and holding elections without delay, which he stressed is vital for restoring peace and stability in the country.

Rizvi made this statement while speaking to journalists on Wednesday after visiting the family of slain journalist ATM Turab in Sylhet. He urged the government to take more responsible steps to ensure national stability during this critical period.

The BNP leader also criticized India’s approach towards Bangladesh, claiming that while Delhi shelters criminals like Sheikh Hasina, it allows the killing of innocent people, such as Jayanta and Sharna, along the border. According to Rizvi, these actions threaten Bangladesh’s security and sovereignty.

He accused certain groups of attempting to destabilize the country and destroy the hard-earned victories of the nation. Rizvi reiterated that holding elections is the only way to meet the aspirations of the people and ensure stability.

Additionally, he demanded the repeal of the Digital Security Act and the Indemnity Ordinance in the power sector, emphasizing that responsible governance is crucial during this transitional period. Rizvi warned that negligence could lead to further unrest.

The event was attended by Amra BNP Poribar Convenor Atiqul Islam Rumman, Sylhet District BNP President Abdul Quyyum Chowdhury, Secretary Amran Ahmed Chowdhury, Sylhet City BNP Acting President Miftah Siddiquee, and Secretary General Emdad Hussain Chowdhury, among others.
