Brahmanbaria, Sep 12 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three individuals, including former Awami League lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, at the Akhaura border in Brahmanbaria early Thursday morning.

The two others arrested are Md Hannan Molla, a former union parishad member from the Nurpur area in Akhaura upazila, and Md Nayeem Chowdhury, a local resident suspected of human trafficking.

The arrest was confirmed by Md Shariful Islam, public relations officer at BGB Headquarters. According to Lt. Col Farah Md Imtiaz, commander of the BGB-25 Battalion in Sarail, the group was apprehended while attempting to cross into India illegally through the Akhaura border in the Abdullahpur area at around 6:50 AM.

Fazle Karim, who previously served as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Railways Ministry, has been elected multiple times from Chattogram’s Raozan upazila.
