Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), stated that those responsible for the killings during the mass upsurge in July must be held accountable to preserve the spirit of the student-people movement.

Speaking to journalists after providing financial aid to the family of Shaheed Mahamudur Rahman Saikat at his Mohammadpur residence, Rizvi remarked, "The spirit of the mass upsurge will diminish if the murderers involved in the anti-discrimination student movement are not punished."

The financial assistance, given on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, was organized by 'Amra BNP Paribar'. The organization's convener, journalist Atiqur Rahman Rumon, advisor Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, and leaders from Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal were present at the event.

Rizvi expressed, "We wish to see the reflection of Dr. Yunus's goodwill in the establishment of good governance, adherence to the rule of law, and swift justice for those responsible for the brutal killings in July."

He criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of shedding the blood of youth and civilians to maintain her grip on power. Rizvi further alleged that the police have not arrested any suspects, including the primary accused in Shaheed Mahamudur Rahman Saikat’s case, as many officers are aligned with the current government.

He condemned the government’s protection of figures like former Home Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and Salman F Rahman, labeling the Sheikh Hasina regime as a "brutal dictatorship" that has destroyed the nation's institutions over its extended tenure.

Rizvi also accused the Awami League of fostering widespread corruption, claiming that influential ministers and MPs have built a system of looting public funds, using the proceeds to acquire assets abroad, all while ignoring the growing discontent and unrest among the people.
