Dhaka, Oct 18 (V7N)- The long-awaited Health Protection Act is nearing its final stages and is expected to be sent to the Cabinet for approval next week, according to Nur Jahan Begum, Advisor to the Ministry of Health. She shared this update during the '22nd Medical Camp Celebration' organized by Dreamers Consultation and Research at Dhaka University's Nawab Nawab Ali Senate Building on Friday afternoon.

In her address, the health advisor highlighted the critical state of the health sector, acknowledging that it has reached a point where meaningful reform is nearly impossible under current conditions. She suggested that a complete overhaul may be necessary, saying, "This sector will be demolished and reorganized."

Addressing the ongoing dengue crisis, Begum expressed regret that more proactive measures could have prevented the current situation, where hospitals are overwhelmed with dengue patients. She emphasized the importance of strengthening preventative healthcare efforts and noted various government initiatives designed to ensure care for those injured during the anti-discrimination student movement.

The upcoming Health Protection Act aims to bring about systemic changes in the healthcare system, promoting better governance, accessibility, and quality of care in Bangladesh. Its finalization represents a major step forward in the government's commitment to improving public health.
