Dhaka, Nov 14 (V7N) - The Bangladesh government has expressed strong displeasure over recent political statements made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently residing in India, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Toufique Hasan. Addressing the media on Thursday, Hasan noted that Bangladesh has communicated its concerns to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, requesting that Indian authorities discourage Hasina from continuing to make such statements in the Indian media.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally conveyed to the Indian High Commission and the Indian government that Hasina's political statements since her departure from Bangladesh amid the August 5 unrest are viewed unfavorably by Dhaka," Hasan said. He further emphasized the importance of curbing these remarks to maintain the longstanding historical ties and mutual respect between the two nations.

Responding to a question about India’s response, Hasan stated that the Indian High Commissioner had assured Bangladesh that he would communicate these concerns to his government, though no official response has yet been received.

When asked about the possibility of Hasina's repatriation in light of an outstanding arrest warrant, Hasan explained that any actions would depend on a decision by the relevant ministry, which has yet to provide instructions on this matter.

Regarding visa issues with India, Hasan mentioned that Bangladesh has raised concerns with Indian authorities, who cited staffing shortages as a reason for delays. Bangladesh has also requested that India expedite visa processes for medical travel and for students traveling to Romania, Bulgaria, and Finland.
