Baku, Nov 14 (V7N) — Chief Advisor to Bangladesh’s Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, held a high-profile meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the COP-29 Climate Conference Center in Baku on Thursday. Their discussions covered a range of bilateral and global issues pertinent to both nations, underscoring a commitment to strengthening cooperation.

This meeting followed Dr. Yunus’s attendance at the LDC High-Level Meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday. The closed-door session focused on critical matters affecting the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), emphasizing climate resilience and sustainable development.

Dr. Yunus has also engaged in a series of diplomatic dialogues on the sidelines of the conference, meeting leaders from across the globe. On Tuesday, he held discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, Maldives President Mohamed Mujibur Rahman, and Bosnia and Herzegovina President Denis Becirovic. Additional meetings were conducted with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Albania Prime Minister Edi Rama, Liechtenstein Prime Minister Daniel Risch, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Iran's Vice President Shina Ansari.

These engagements signify Bangladesh’s active role in global climate diplomacy and its collaboration with international partners to address pressing environmental and developmental challenges.
