On the day of the 12th parliamentary election, the Ministry of Public Administration has declared a general holiday by a gazette announcement.

On Wednesday January 03, a notification was published in the gazette, bearing the signature of Sonia Hassan, the deputy secretary of the ministry.

The announcement stated that all offices, institutions, and organizations—public, semi-public, autonomous, and private—will close at the Election Commission's request to give all personnel nationwide access to vote.
Both public and private educational institutions will be closed on this particular day.
