Dhaka, Dec 11 (V7N) – Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated that the interim government is grappling with substantial debts and inequitable agreements inherited in the power and energy sector.
Speaking at the second Bangladesh Energy Prosperity 2050 conference, organized by the Bangladesh Working Group on Ecology and Development (BWGED) at the BIAM Foundation in Dhaka on Wednesday, Rizwana highlighted the challenges posed by a lack of transparency despite efforts to bolster the energy sector.
Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, also addressing the event, stressed the government’s dedication to advancing renewable energy.
"We intend to use unused government land, including railway properties, for renewable energy projects," said Khan. He noted that while private companies are excelling in solar energy, ensuring the quality of inverters, cables, and other components remains critical.
The three-day conference, running until Friday, brings together organizations, environmental activists, energy experts, lawyers, and professionals dedicated to renewable energy development in Bangladesh.
