Dhaka, Mar 15 (V7N) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reiterated the UN’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh in addressing the Rohingya crisis. He made the assurance while speaking at an event at the newly inaugurated UN House in Gulshan on Saturday morning.

Guterres acknowledged the contributions of Bangladeshi peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping missions, stating that they play a crucial role in maintaining global stability. He also discussed the reform initiatives undertaken by Bangladesh’s interim government.

The UN chief visited the newly constructed UN House to attend a photo exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s UN membership and to hoist the UN flag. Before this, he met with the UN Country Team in Bangladesh to discuss ongoing collaborations.

Guterres, alongside Adviser on Industries, Housing, and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan, formally inaugurated the UN House. The event was attended by Syeda Rizwana Hassan, Adviser on Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, and Gwen Lewis, the UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh.
