Dhaka, Mar 20 (V7N) – To ensure a safe and smooth celebration during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the Bangladesh Police have issued safety advisories for bus, launch, and train passengers, as well as for vehicle owners. The advisory was issued in a press release on Thursday, March 20.

Passengers are advised to plan their trips well in advance to avoid any last-minute rush. The police have also emphasized the importance of not instructing drivers to speed, as the safety of passengers and their families should always be a priority. Additionally, travelers are strongly urged not to take unnecessary risks, such as riding on bus rooftops or traveling in trucks and other goods-carrying vehicles. The police warned that these actions can result in dangerous accidents. Passengers should also be cautious when crossing roads, using zebra crossings or foot overbridges, and avoid accepting food or drinks from strangers. In case of any emergency or general need, passengers are encouraged to seek assistance from the police.

Bus owners have been urged not to allow incompetent, tired, or sick drivers to operate vehicles. Owners are also reminded to make sure that buses are in proper condition and are not overcrowded. Drivers should strictly follow traffic rules, avoid risky overtaking, and refrain from driving when they are tired, exhausted, or ill. Moreover, bus drivers must carry all necessary documents, including their driving license, and ensure that the buses meet safety standards.

For passengers traveling by waterways, such as steamers, speedboats, or launches, the police have advised against becoming additional passengers on the roof of boats or overloading vessels. They are also urged not to travel in bad weather and to stay seated during storms or rough conditions. It is also recommended that passengers wear life jackets when traveling on speedboats. Launch and steamer operators are advised to ensure that their vessels are operated with qualified masters and drivers and should suspend operations during adverse weather. The authorities also suggested installing buoys and closing the master bridge of vessels to ensure passenger safety.

Train passengers are reminded not to travel on the roof, buffer, or steps of trains, as this can result in serious accidents. They are also urged not to throw stones while traveling and are reminded that traveling without a valid ticket is not permitted.

In case of emergency, the police have provided several contact numbers for assistance. The Police Headquarters Control Room can be reached at 01320001300 or 01320001299. Additionally, passengers can contact the Highway Police Headquarters at 01320182598, the Railway Police Headquarters at 01320177598, the Naval Police Headquarters at 01320169598, or the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at 01777720029.
