Dhaka, Apr 9 (V7N) – A total of 315 road accidents occurred across Bangladesh during this year's Eid pilgrimage, leaving 322 people dead and 826 others injured, according to a report by the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association.

The data was presented by the association’s Secretary General Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury at a press conference held at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday morning (April 9).

The report, covering the period from March 24 to April 7, shows a notable decline in road casualties compared to the same period last year, when 407 deaths and 1,398 injuries were reported in 399 road accidents. This year’s statistics reflect a 20–21 percent decrease in both fatalities and incidents.

In addition to road accidents, the report also noted:

  • 21 railway accidents resulting in 20 deaths and 8 injuries

  • 4 waterway accidents leading to 10 deaths, 1 injury, and 1 missing person

  • 14.43% were trucks and covered vans

  • 8.06% were private cars and microbuses
