Dhaka, Aug 12 (V7N) — Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, member of the National Consensus Commission, has expressed hope that all political parties will sign the forthcoming July Charter aimed at state reforms.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Citizens for Good Governance (SUJON) at the Dhaka Reporters Unity on Tuesday afternoon, Badiul Alam Majumder said the commission has reached agreements on 81 points after consultations with 30 political parties.

“The people want reforms, and the time for those reforms is now,” he said.

Sujan Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder and other speakers noted that the proposals include replacing the sole authority of the Prime Minister with a cabinet-ruled government system, amending Article 70 of the Constitution, and appointing a deputy speaker from the opposition party in the upper house of parliament.
