Dhaka, Aug 28 (V7N) – The Election Commission (EC) has announced a comprehensive roadmap ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, outlining a 24-phase action plan to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process.

The announcement was made on Thursday (August 28) by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, who detailed key aspects of the electoral preparations.

Key Highlights of the Roadmap:

  • Voter Lists: Three separate voter lists will be published, with the final voter list scheduled for release in November. Each polling booth is planned to accommodate 600 male and 500 female voters.

  • Election Schedule: The commission aims to complete law and order preparations 15 days prior to the schedule announcement. The official election schedule will be declared 60 days before the polls.

  • Constituency Boundaries: Following hearings on constituency delimitation, the commission plans to finalize parliamentary boundaries by September 15, with the GIS or geographical maps to be published by September 30.

  • Election Technology & Security: Regarding CCTV cameras and body cameras at polling stations, the EC clarified that this falls under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Efforts are underway to tackle challenges related to AI and disinformation. The commission stressed that ensuring a safe and secure voting environment remains a top priority.

Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed emphasized that the EC is actively reviewing all information and making necessary updates to the action plan to facilitate a free, fair, and safe election.
