Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N) – Election Commissioner (Retd.) Brigadier J. Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah has emphasized the importance of participation from all segments of society in ensuring inclusive elections. He said initiatives are being taken to create a suitable environment for physically challenged and disabled voters to cast their votes in the upcoming election.
Brig. Sanaullah made the remarks at the ‘National Consultation on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Electoral Process’ held at the China Friendship Conference Center on Sunday afternoon.
He added that immigrants and prisoners of district jails will also have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election. The Election Commission is working to restore public confidence in the electoral process and revive an environment where citizens actively participate.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed highlighted that all necessary assistance will be provided to ensure that disabled voters can exercise their voting rights. He also confirmed that there is no constitutional barrier preventing their participation in the election.
These steps are part of the Election Commission’s broader plan to make the 13th National Parliament elections accessible, fair, and participatory for every citizen.
