New York, Sep 26 (V7N) – Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, is scheduled to address the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday.

The session begins at 9 am local time in New York, with Dr. Yunus listed as the 10th speaker of the day.

According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, Yunus will focus on the reform activities undertaken by the interim government, the people’s aspiration reflected in the July 2024 mass uprising, and the government’s commitment to holding free and fair national elections by February 2026.

His address is also expected to cover the trial of the July massacre, the Rohingya crisis, and Bangladesh’s progress on economic recovery over the past 14 months.

“The Chief Adviser will inform the world community about the interim government’s reform agenda and the initiatives to ensure a democratic transition,” Alam said in a briefing on Thursday.

Dr. Yunus is set to reaffirm that national elections will take place by February 15, 2026, marking Bangladesh’s return to a full democratic process.
